My HP zd8000 just died and while trying to get to the CPU, graphics chip, well the whole mainboard really it was a nightmare. You have to disassemble everything to get there. I saw a review on an ASUS notebook and all you have to do is get to the backplate and remove that. Can build desktops but after taking that notebook apart that was a nightmare. I really would like to get a replacement that I can do add in vid card and CPU upgrades as the machine ages or I find myself needing more. Anyone have suggestions for a style of notebook that allows easy upgrades? Is HP the same way currently with getting to the CPU? I wasn't familiar with Sager but they are running a special on a nice machine for $1300.00. I wanted to saty under $1000.00 with bluetooth. Any current suggestions on a machine that is easy to upgrade, comes with ok CPU and vid card (again I can upgrade as CPU's become cheaper so need a mainboard with some overhead) Thanks.
