Yes it is a sweet CPU water block.

Well I decided to sell the 4870X2 cards and go for the GTX 295

Will post more in a few days

Well have the GTX 295 installed and initial 3DMark96 scores for my stock CPU and GPU just under 18k

my OC CPU and GPU with the pair of 4870x2 cards scored 18.3K

so one GTX 295 seems to = 2 x 4870X2 easlly

will do some OC soon and rerun the benchmarks

A usual these high end cards get hot, I also installed the optional backplate for additional cooling.

So I will be getting the water blocks for this card as well

my wee 512mb 4870s crossfired got 20K though with 3.6ghz cpu, I think 3dmark6 is pants

I found out why my 3Dmark score was low, seemed the second 4870x2 card was crapped, I had not even realized it, until the guy I sold it to told me it was NFG.

Upon return the video was corrupted. Not sure how long that had been, could have been right from the box, I just droppped it in and plugged in the crossfire cable and never looked back.

My only issue now has been getting HIS to RMA the thing. 2 weeks of silence. My Supplier is trying to get them to respond now.

Probably so, I really have not had the time to OC the CPU, but from all reports I have read it shoud be easy to get it up around 3.7 Ghz or so.

I have to get cracking on the water block for the GTX card, and start some benchmark tweaking again

Either that or I will just go buy the Extreme CPU lol
post #174 of 205
Wish I had the money to blow like that.. =/

Like I use to, I'd stick with your 920, you can get it to 4ghz. The 965 really isn't worth the extra coin. Nice rig dave.

I have one question though, are you ever happy with it?

Well I added a forth 1 TB drive, and now running Raid 10.

I also finally got around to installing the water block on my GTX 295 card, Ambiant temps are around 33 C now.

Now to get all this done I came to the conclusion that the Thermaltake Armor case I had was just not cutting it, so I went out and bought a new Coolmaster Sniper case.

I think I will do a separate review on the case, but here are my updated pics

First Pic is the full view from the side, you can see the GTX 295 in the middle with the blu lights shinging through the water block,

Second is a view of the huge 10 inch fan on the top of the case

Third is a view of the GTX card in the dark

these last shots of the 10 inch fan in the front, which is also cooling the 4 x 1 TB hard drives - again a smart layout by Coolmaster
