Just coming back to the threads to read up

Do you like that card Dave?

My build has something akin to a lightning strike/disaster, rebuilding now as the board was fried. Just went with same brand as dont want to relearn another bios. I moved country so the postal costs would be more for RMA than to simply buy another one.

Well I just RMA'd my GTX295, started getting artifacts and system lock ups when gaminmg with it.

So I orderd the EVGA GTX295 single board card with the stock water cooling

I will probably sell my Original GTX295 when I get it back.

Also After almost 7 months I am finally getting my HIS ATI 4870x2 card back from reapir/replacement. Needles to say withsupport like this I will never buy an HIS product again.

I will test it when it gets here and promptly sell it.

Attached some pics of the newer GTX card, of course with the single card design, it half the sizeof my original card.

And with the water cooling runs @ 35 c

I just read about you woes, it sucks for sure,

I had problems with my HIS 4870x2 card - and having in crossfire mode, I did not notice any issues with it until I ran it as a single card, then discovered the second card was crapped, and releaize why my 3Dmark scores were much lower than expected.

Its taken 7 months to get it taken care of - actually had to be sent back to China, it will arrive Thursday so i can post a follow up after i have tested it.

But I think i will never buy ATI again - 1 year warranty on a $ 600.00 GPU is not worth it, considering places like EVGA offer a lifetime warranty.

Wow, 7 months service on a $600 part. Maybe we can start a thread product (and parts manufacturers) to be avoided.

cheers ...

I hear you Dave, I at least will never buy a HIS again, with their 1 year warranties

I got an Asus version this time as it has a 3yr warranty which is okay, esp as its return to reseller not rma hell. XFX also offer double lifetime on some cards

EVGA in the USA have a advanced RMA process which they will cross ship cards for you. not a bad deal, they will eventually expand that option into Canada.

So I took my card with me and shipped is USPS express, should be there Friday or Monday.

At least I will have my replacement GTX295 card shipped back to me early next week.

And my ATI is due Friday now - UPS decided to hold it an extra day lol

I ment to say before, that watercooled 295 looks brilliant, you always have the best available hardware in your builds, which makes for great reading

cheers!

I have the new GTX-295 Hydro installed

Running with my CPU water block in series my temps are @ 40 C, I can lower it to about 36C with the fans set to high speed - but thats on the noisy side.

Next I will benchmark the stock system and then see how much I can OC the thing, and benchmark the OC results

I am also considering adding a second GTX-295 to the unit - but that means a 1200 watt PSU or better - my 1000 watt probably won't cut it.

got the GPU OC up to a Core clock of 691, and a score of 22,999

Even overclocked Temps were a Stable 40C with this water cooled GTX-295

I am impressed with this EVGA Water Block far far better than any third parties water block.
