I had no idea there was such a thing as a 5.25" bay pump/reservoir combo - then again, I know squat about H20 cooling anyway.

well one 4879 showed up today, the other is due to arrive Friday.

I pretty much have the unit assembled, but having Post errors which seem to point to a defective GPU,

It's nice having the Post Codes on this DFI Lan Party Board.

So I guess I will have to try the second GPU Friday afternoon and see what happens

You may not believe it but we had much, much more planned for this review but unfortunately our DFI motherboard conspired to haunt us again and again. Other than the fact that our LanParty DK X38 T2R decided to mysteriously give up on our very slight memory overclock, it refused to cooperate when we installed the HD4870 X2 into it. An ASUS X48 P5E Deluxe worked without a hitch, as did a Gigabyte EP35 and ASUS P5Q Pro so we knew it wasn’t the chipset and had read of these same things happening to owners of the HD3870 X2 when pairing that card up with certain DFI boards.

and a possible fix for the problems

well been playing around with the new build, and seems there are still a few more bugs with the DFI mobo, including when I enable ACHI I loose my raid 0 config, and Windows craps out.

Even trying Vista 64 bit been a pain in the ass, with a non certified driver causing windows to halt and ask me to override the Certfied Driver ceck.

Going to do a clean install again, and see if the new drivers work with setting up raid.

The DFi BIOS issues also extend to the secondary Raid drivers which only can be setup with a keyboard with a PS2 connector, my USB KB can't access the configuration menu. So I had to reset the cmos and disable the j-raid option until I can try again with a ps2 KB.

Ugh, Should have stuck to the Asus boards I think, anyone want a deal on a DFI Mobo

Ahh bios sucks, feel the pain.

I lost my raid 1 mysteriously here on P5Q deluxe recently and now just use software backup as I lost data and had loads on downtime reloading everything. I dont know anything about raid so got frustrated and said F-it

If your in the market for a new board these P45 ones lose a wee bit of bandwidth, not much to average user, but with crossfired x2 cards you'll see it if anyone does (supposed to be a few percent as p45 does 2x x8 pcie2 rather than 2x x16 pcie1.1 - or simething along these lines)

Hey something that may help you meantime is software ive been using on my laptop for a few months with no problems, readdriverplus - it basically just selects disable driver signing upon boot up - I use it soley for running fangui on vistax64)

Its free, here's the website: http://citadel.x10hosting.com/readydriverplus/

Fennux uses DFI board, he may be good to chat to

G'luck dave

Well it seems you can't run 2 x 4870x2 cards either

Some other just discovered issue with the DFI board.

Think I made a mistake buying this DFI

Going to get the Asus Rampage I think

I'm just catching up here...that sucks about your DFI Dave.

There are a couple of lengthy threads @ XS on the Rampage and X48 DQ6 you should check out (if you haven't already).
