What happened ('er, didn't happen) w/Vista64?

The raid drivers crashed Vista for one, even the lastest ones would not work well,

Vista kept "pausing" - never figured out that one either.

some of my software would not run on Vista 64 Bit, yet It does on XP x64

So the only thing I can't run on XP is my canon camera - Canon refuses to support 64 bit XP.

I think I am just going to hang on until the next OS is realeased @ 2 years

You know the next one will be coming out in only about 5-6 months right?

I thought I read 2010 for the next OS from MS?

Whoops you're correct Dave, I haven't been keeping up on it and thought it was early 2009 instead of 2010

well the second card only added about 2K to the score.

Going to run FRAPS on sveral programs and see how it does.

I tried playing with OC but until I get my Water blocks for the 4870x2 cards going to wait, These cards run very hot out of the box, and I found any OC sent them into the high 90s and they crashed.

So Water Cooling is a must IMO if you want to OC the GPU cards

3dmk6 is cpu biased, and not really reflective of the quadfire power you have there. From what Ive surfed with a 3.6 overclock quads reporting low 20s, but in real world gaming what you have is basically the best in the world

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread....79987&page=149

Toasty though eh? Even the 4870 idle at 80s deg C with the low fan speed they have default. I use modded profile to keep idle to ~38% and 54deg C when just surfing, and then run that gainward auto tool when gaming or rest of time (the min is 50% speed and there is a marked volume difference)

Have fun, thats one heck of a system you have there Dave!

I like it so far,

there is still some program crapping out in Vista and for some reason I still can't connect to my Canon EOS camera even with Vista It does work with 32 bt XP n the laptop

Think it lack of x64 bit drivers even though Vista is supposed to have the drivers built in
post #98 of 205
Have you pinged Canon about the driver problem?
