X41 Tablet pissing me off

Ok so it seems that I can NEVER rely on this machine for anything. The network card barely ever works and my charger just gave out. The laptop already has crap for a battery so in 45mins I go from 100% to 0%. And keep in mind it's an 8 cell battery on a small ass laptop with a ULV processor. It seems that if somebody puts a finger on this thing something breaks. The build is just HORRIBLE. It's slow as monkey balls. The screen latch breaks maybe every 20 cycles. All of my friends have this exact laptop and I'm the lucky one because they have to have theirs plugged in all the time in order for it to even boot.
Piece of crap.

did you buy it new or used?...weren't the 41's out a couple years ago? i figure that battery life would be suck by now....anyhow, yea it sucks to have a computer that you can't rely on....sorry to hear about all your problems.

on another note, have you checked other ways to help preserve battery life...like booting with on the essentials, turning off functions you'll never use eg: modem, lan, etc. there are some tweaking programs out there that might save you 15-20 minutes of battery life...but then again, what's the point of having a tablet if it needs to be on a leash?...oh the conundrum...

Bought it new and this sucks because I got my Dell Inspiron 9300 before I got this and that laptop has AMAZING battery life. Going to install Vista on this one and replace the battery.

When was the last time you did a clean XP install? Sounds like time to do a clean xp install and pickup a new battery from the bay. If XP is running horribly then installing Vista could possibly make things 10x worse? You sig indicates 512MB so possibly try an upgrade along with the clean install. My x41 is 4 years old and the battery still lasts 2+hrs.
Maybe one of the cells is bad?

As for the charger, mine went out too and i do a reformat every year so it still feels fast.
