Macbook Pro DVD Drive

I am a happy owner of a new MBP, and it is a sweet machine

I have one question? the dvd drive seams to be very slow. installing software takes twice as long as it does on my Dells. Is this normal? The unit is very quite so I thought maybe this was a give and take.

What kind of software are you installing?

Some stuff, like Adobe's CS3 for example, is almost twice as big on Mac as it is on PC because it includes both the Intel and PPC binaries in it.

Well this is on both OS X and Windows XP (bootcamp). It is all kinds of stuff Software, Games, Movies, they all seem to take twice as long to transfer using this drive. Once its all loaded I won't use the drive all that much just wondered if this is normal on a Macbook?
I'm not new to Mac's, this is my first Mac Laptop though.

The tech specs show it as an 8x DVD 24x CD drive...which is a bit on the slow side.

EDIT by Seablade: The offender is already banned and the posts are in the process of being removed. In the future, I would suggest not quoting(Or really even responding) the offender as it just makes more work for mods to clean up to get rid of all links. Thanks.
