ThinkPad T61 15 Widescreen - 1 Yr Depot Warranty
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T9500 (2.6GHz 800MHz 6MBL2)
Genuine Windows Vista Business 64
15.4 WSXGA+ TFT
NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (256MB Open GL)
4 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad) with Fingerprint Reader
200GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm with Disk Encryption
DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim
Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (supporting Centrino Pro)
Integrated Bluetooth PAN
6 cell Li-Ion Battery

So is that worth $2,000?

That T9500 CPU is one of the best CPUs out there right now. You're also talking about a notebook that has battery which is capable of up to 4 hours of life on a 6 cell. That's a lot better than most notebooks out there right now with similar technology.

I also ordered the ultrabay battery for it to get a longer battery life.

Sounds like you got your bases covered. I'll be looking forward to seeing the results of this notebook if you end up buying it. Maybe you could write a review for everyone?

Yeah I might just do that.

Yea I bought it. It was on sale at the time. I like the system a lot however I downgraded from Vista Business x64 to XP Professional x64 which doesn't support thinkvantage system update so installing drivers was a total pain. I still don't have sound.

was XP not an option anymore when you purchased it?....that's a bummer....but perhaps the hard work now will pay off later with a more stable system with xp instead of vista.

Yea I like XP much more. And if I can just get the Bluetooth and Sound working again I'll be satisfied with it.

good luck with that. have you tried other forums like lenovo's? or even there's a thinkpad-specific community. you could always try to find an xp recovery cd for the x41...would mean might have to shell some dough, but to get bluetooth and sound working, might be worth it....

Well I realized that I'm going to have to get used to Vista sometime and now might as well be the time. I managed to "Acquire" a copy of Vista Business x64 and reinstalled it onto my system. I'm running ThinkVantage System Updater as I type.

Running XP was way to much of a chore than I though it would be. It would have been so simple if I wasn't running a x64 OS though... however I want to be able to use all 4gb of Ram that I have. And having so much I think I can spare some for Vista.

ah, i guess you've succumbed to the pressure. there are SOME good things about vista...eg. i really like the sidebar thing...yea, it's a rip of mac os, but it still has some useful tools/apps.

Yeah, if you're going with 64 bit, Vista is certainly the way to go. If nothing else, it's fully supported, where XP x64 is a secret love-child that everyone likes to pretend wasn't there.

That being said, looks like a good system. Not too far off from what I have, and I love mine.

Yeah I ran into a bunch of problems with compatibility with XP x64 especially with iTunes.
