Looking for best performing driver for ATI Mobility x1400

I've got an Inspiron 6400 with an ATI x1400 GPU and I'm trying to find a driver that performs the best. Has anyone tried the different reference and/or "mod" versions out there to compare them?

I'm not especially interested in it being the newest, just the best performance.

Performance wise--in gaming? The Omega Drivers under Windows XP have given me the best performance out of my x1400. If you think you're system might be sluggish, try it a go (and remember XP > Vista).

Concur. The Omega drivers are definately the best for ATI cards from my experience, although are not always the most up-to-date... so check the known game issues from the version of ATI driver they are based on first.

Do the Omega drivers work with Vista or are the XP ones ilsted compatible with Vista?
