Dell xps1530 Help

I had a bitter ex roommate who took advantage of my kindness. I let him have access to my laptop whenever he wanted. I do not know much about the technical side of the computer. I never set a password or any type of security for my computer. Well he has now put a password and apparently scanned his fingerprint to lock my computer!!!
I must have my laptop for work what can I do??

. chased him down, drag his finger back to unlock it
. search the net for "finger scan bypass", fix can never be garanteed and differed from one user to the other
. call up dell

cheers ...

The quickest solution is like qhn suggests, hunting the guy down, but I suggest also bringing a meat cleaver or hatchet along. Remember, you only need his fingerprint >

Of course if he is uncooperative (I was being facetious about the cleaver). You can contact Dell and they can setup a service call to replace the motherboard. I've done a couple motherboard/hard drive replacements after the customer recovered their system from a thief that set a BIOS and HDD password. If you have onsite warranty shouldn't take but a day or two.

Did the guy set a Windows password or a BIOS password? If it's a BIOS password you can get Dell to help you out for free. If it's a Windows password, most Windows password reset utilities cost money, which is why businesses charge. I charge when I have to reset a Windows password.
