POLL: MobileForce + Desktop Support = ???

Poll Results: Desktop support for MobileForce drivers?

Yes, I'd love to see this, and a name change to boot! Super-uber-awesome tweaked driver FTW!
  • 66% (4)
Not just no, but HELL NO. Keep the drivers the same, and focus on doing what you do well!

Maybe, but I'd want to see and test a Public Beta first, before I make a decision.

OK, this has been something that's been poked at me for some time now (especially so over the past 3 or so months).

I have had several people asking me about desktop GPU support in the MobileForce drivers. Personally, I haven't found it to be something BIG to add since this is, after all, a MOBILE (laptop) forum, and mobile-only drivers are much more appropriate for a laptop forum.

BUT... Again, there have been several requests for a desktop GPU-supporting driver. It wouldn't be that hard to do, so that's why I'm making it a poll.

I want people to give as much feedback as possible on this, as I for one am not TOO keen on the idea, but, it's something to at least consider. If I were to do some kind of mega driver, I would definitely make it a public beta, instead of closed beta (BetaCircle members only).

But, this brings up another point. If I were to do this, adding desktop support to the MobileForce drivers, there'd have to be a name change. But to what? Which would be another thing I'd want feedback on. "MobileForce" just wouldn't work for desktop-supporting drivers, at all.

Anyways, like I said, I wanted some official, public feedback on this.

So, vote away!

Well i love the drivers you guys produce, but we have some issues still, since you focus on inf modding, and sometimes it its not enough, i would love to see some features like: my screen shutting down when i close the lid and better powermizer support, and if you split your work you wont be able to focus that much, testing is also necessary. I personally would like to help as i can with the current mobile driver mods. keep the great work!

I'd love to implement that stuff, but the problem is, that's solely on the driver itself (the .dll, .sys, etc files) that I can't implement without reverse-engineering the files, and I wouldn't know where to begin with that, let alone be able to do it without NVIDIA coming after me.

The tweaks I do are moreso for smoothing out and sometimes increasing performance while also increasing color vibrancy and general image quality. Sure, I throw in the occasional bugfix, but everything I do is basically registry tweaks, as anything more would require the actual driver files to be modified, which I can't do.

i voted no because its such a rare thing that fenuxx is doing besides Lv2G, but they dont make improvements just add support for mobile cards.

and there are other tweaked desktop driver out there like omega and XG, and it would be a shame if mobileforce lost its concentration on being 100% mobile drivers which like i say is rare to see a 100% tweaked mobile driver.

Don't bother. If I had a nVidia desktop, I would just use the drivers from their site and customize them myself. The reason why I need yours on my 7150m laptop is because it is easier to 1-click install then hack in the desktop ones manually. Honestly, any "tweaks" aren't going to really give any applicable performance improvement.

performance improvements arent all to a tweaked driver
