I am fixing a laptop for a buddy of mine and ran into a problem. First off the system was running super slow. It would take 30 minutes or more for the system to load. HD was a making loud noises. After some testing HD was going bad and decided to replaced it. The original drive was a Toshiba replaced it with a Hitachi compatible drive same size 80gb. I installed the drive and everything was working fine. Bios detected the drive and everything was good. Started reloading XP and the laptop locked up. Reset it and it booted up fine. Started loading XP again and it locked up again at a different install location. Reset it again laptop sounds like its booting fine but had no display. Reset it again display comes on but then the laptop locks up again at another different install location. Reset it again and the display did not come back up. Reset it again and it sounds like everything is booting up fine just now I get no display at all. Removed the drive and still no display. Checked all the connections and they are all secure. Tried resetting the CMOS to see if I could get into the bios and can't find a battery or a jumper to reset it. I go online and check out Sony support to reset the CMOS and it states

I call the support and since it is out of warranty they want to charge me $29.95. NOPE! So then I decide to check out the chat support to see if they can help. I chatted with Alexander tell him everything and he states they don't have anything online and they do not want the end user to reset the CMOS and I should contact support. I said I tried support and they wanted to charge me $29.95 to find out how to reset it. He stated again that I would have to contact support. A little aggravated I just closed the chat session. I don't know what else to do other than maybe either replace the mobo or video inverter.

Doe anyone know how reset the BIOS in the Sony Vaio PCG-Z1WAP? Or have any other suggestions?
