Best available CPU for I6000D

Thread Starter
I just upgraded my wife from the I6000 to a loaded XPS1330. The 6000 is now my work dedicated laptop.

It has 2 gb of ram, but a Pentium M 730 1.6GHz processor. I searched here and all I know is that it will not take any dual core processors. What is the best processor this laptop is capable of handling?

Running XP Pro and laptop bios A09.

Thanks.

Follow up: Googling I see this is a Sanoma/Dothan series CPU. The best one they made was a Pen. M 770 (2.13GHz) Would that work in the I6000.

the best CPU you can use is either a Pentium M 780 or a pin-modded Pentium M 735 at 2.26 Ghz

The high-end chips such as the 780 are not worth the price.... waaaay to expensive. But, as suggested above, I would also recommend looking into getting a Pentium M 735 (which are relatively cheap by comparison!), and pin modding that to run at basically the same speed as the high-end chip! (The pin mod effectively boosts the 735 from a 400MHz bus speed to 533MHz, instant 33% speed boost )
