Inspiron 1520 has core temp of 75C

I was playing WoW and I noticed that my laptop seemed incredibly hot. I'm using RMclock to underclock it, and even undervolting it, my core temp was 75C! I have no idea why it's so high. Has anyone else had this problem with the 1520 series?

Oh, and I also noticed that it idles at 48C. This seems excessively high. Also, I do run it in performance on demand mode.

Seems normal. Must be a hot day there.

When there is 100% CPU load my temp goes to as high as 90C.

Download a program called I8KFANGUI
It makes it so all fans in your computer spin at full speed always or manual mode. Once you install this it takes control of your cooling from BIOS. Therefore always keep it running

i assume you're talking of the cpu core temp, 75C is as high as i would want to go. Try cleaning your vents with some compressed air, maybe you have a good build up of dust in the cooling fins.

So it's normal for laptops to be that hot? I thought most people were much lower.

I have the program listed above. My idle temps are in the upper 30's to mid 40's for both graphic card (m8600gt) and cpu (1.8). I bought a cooler with my laptop so when it's on the temps might reach 60's C during a game. Recently, the power cord (USB) has become loose due to thin wire gage. If unchecked, I have seen temps reach 89C based on history in said program.

I would recommend a notebook cooler, store-bought or homemade, whenever possible. True, they are a bit clumsy for a classroom or business meeting, but on a desk one won't notice and actually are a bit more comfortable on a lap. Also, as many have noted, the air space alone is often enough to keep things in check even without being powered up.
