Change FX media keys?

post #1 of 5

I could have sworn I read someplace about somebody re-binding their media keys on the FX series, but I can't find the post now to save my life. I know it's some kind of registry hack if I'm not mistaken. Anyone able/care to fill me in on the details? I use media player way more than media center (which I never use actually) and besides, the "DVD" and "music" buttons go to media center too. I hate having superfluous buttons when I can make one of them do something more useful to me. Like maybe having the "DVD" button autoplay a disk in the drive, and the music key go to media player, and the "=>" do something actually useful. Not sure what off the top of my head though, but I'll think of something. I just need to know how it's done.

OOO!!!! Got it! make the "=>" lock the computer. There we go.
"=>" = lock comp. "music"= open WMP "DVD"= autoplay D drive.
Possible? How?

No ideas? I KNOW somebody did it, though I'm not sure it was somebody on this site. I remember it was somebody mentioning it inside a review thread I believe. I've been searching for 2 days and can't find that post now, and it's driving me nuts.

Took a while, but I finally found it.

Now I have the "=>" and "music" keys assigned to WMP and the "DVD" key opens VLC media Player. So much better than having them all just go to media center.
