My Evo n1020v is a little hot under the collar

Actually it is hot on the bottom of the notebook under the right hand side of the keyboard. It is so hot that after putting my hand on it for a couple of seconds I feel very uncomfortable. Is there something I can do about this? Is that where the cpu is? Can i install a more powerful fan? Can I drill small holes in the case to allow more ventilation? Would it help to leave the dvd player open? I am concerned about this in general because the amount of heat and the life of a notebook are usually inverse relationships. Secondly my notebook has 256 mb of RAM now. I want to upgrade to 1 GB. Am I asking for trouble?

this was what i did with my sager. but to do it right, u have to take the casing apart, if not bits and pieces might get inside and make it worse

try a flat surface with some elevation? the better the air flows underneath, the cooler ur comp gets
