Screen resolution either too sharp or too blury

post #1 of 12

Currently i have my screen resolution at 1200x800 and i find it too sharp, the one below that 1280x720 is too squashed and too sharp, the one lower from that is too blurry, but perfect proportions (1024x768)

is there any way i can change to a one in between or something.

(15.4" Widescreen WXGA (1280x800) TFT Display with TrueLife ) (NVIDIA 8600m GT)

Thanks

Oh and i forgot to mention that there is a space on the desktop (on the right) about 1/5th of the size and i cant click it or highlight it or anything

it sounds like you may have a defective screen if part of it isn't responsive

also,
1280x800 = 8:5 aspect ratio
1200x800 = 3:2 aspect ratio
1280x720 = 16:9 aspect ratio
1024x768 = 4:3 aspect ratio

you're messing around with the screen aspect ratio, which will always make LCDs have a less then optimal picture. LCDs are meant to operate at their default resolution and aspect ratio, so by changing that, you're invariably making it worse. The screen will look best at 1280x800 or 640x400

What do you mean too sharp? 1280x800 should be the native resolution of your display. For best quality picture that is what you should use.

Now i have a new problem. when i have my resolution set at 1200x800 its fine, but when i put the laptop into hibernate then open it again it changes back to 1024x768 :S
post #8 of 12
Have you restarted the computer since changing the resolution or have you just put it right to sleep? You shouldn't have to restart but it'll probably fix the problem.

Yes i have restarted but it still changed it back to normal

i personally would recommend that u revisited ur display properties and set it correctly (again) with the resolution u wanted. And wait for complete confirmation prompts back from Vista.

cheers ...

I have done that, yet it still just changes when i either restart or pur the computer into hibernate, its like this problem here:http://forums.techguy.org/unix-linux...-stay-put.html

review all ur display settings again, use a standard theme if necessary and see how it behaves. It sounded like u have done some tweaking with display/fonts and somewhere it stucks. Another thing is try to close all running programs before hibernation and see if it helps

cheers ...
