i made a thread way back about i found this computer and it says bad 32k chip noted on the lid.

so today i bought some ram for it sense it didint come with any and pop it in and now numeric pad and the scroll lock blinks about 10 times than the system turns off.

which before the caps lock and scroll lock stayed on.

does anybuddy know what those lights meen when they blink?

i looked it up and it seems like its a memory error....

and i think this might be the cause i bought pc2700 but everywere i saw said it will work. but than i looked on reviews on newegg and theres was peaple that said the 1100 is picky and there laptop whouldint boot with pc2700..

so now looks like i have to buy pc2100 now.. and than hope it works....

yep it worked

tho when i pop it in the first thing that came up is No timer tick interrupt so i didint know what to do till i started pushing buttons like the f keys and the big blue dell icon came up

but than it whouldint boot to the hdd i have to tell it to by pushing f12 than tell it to boot from the hdd and it boots right to windows

it seems like the internal battery is dead or something tho the clock and date was right when i first booted it.

when i looked up that timer error it said replace the motherboard i guess because its sorderd on the board.

but it seems not to have any problems after you get pass the timer error.

been playing some older games with no problems like c&c renagade

also it seems like when the battery fully charges it goes on battery automactic with out unpluging it why?

realy not a problem because i allways charged it than take the battery out when im not useing it. but whould be nice to know if theres a fix or a driver or anything hehe

The battery isn't soldered to the board, but it's not easily accessible. You'll have to completely tear down the system to access the CMOS battery. I can get you a picture of a 5150 mainboard (which are nearly identical) to illustrate where the battery is.
