Hey guys I would like some input to see which route I should go for gaming... I know the 7950 cards are DX9.... and I know the 8700 cards are for DX10... but any advice would be nice to have.... To get another 7950GTX card with the SLI cable with the 10% discount and shipping and taxes it will run me $377.00... compared to the cost of the 8700 prices....

yeah but with a die shrink will it be compatible with the m9750...

How long do you plan on keeping the laptop?

My initial reaction would be to get the second 7950 and keep it at that. DX10 is kind of overrated, unless you've got a DX10 only game.

Im still waiting for my thermal pads from alienware so I can fire up my laptop... Im using my P1 desktop and man its really slow... thank God for dual cores... but having a second graphic card will it improve gaming really that much or is it better to just save the money... and put it towards my desktop on its remodel...

In thisearly stage, we've learned that even in the next generation Nvidia doesn’t plan to support DirectX 10.1 API.

Difficult to say...

I just got crysis, and I'm playing it on an overclocked E8400/8800gtx system. It's playable on ultra high settings, but a second card in SLI would really help...

You can expect 40 - 60% improvement, depending on the games you play. With some games, like CSS, there's no improvement at all with a second card. Several games though played fine with my m9700 w/sli, that were lacking with a single card.

u will prolly want to wait for the 9900's, the 9800's got gimped in a couple areas that makes a handful of top games run better on 8800's. The 99900's are supoosed to have all the power of the 9800's and all the gimped features found on the 8800 restored, and should beat out both 9800 and 8800 in every game b/c of this.

ps..... nv 9 series cards ARE dx10.1 (prolly on mobile 9's too)

Yeah, if you're looking to build a long term game system, I'd wait for the next gen vid cards. The 9800's have been panned by the critics. I was waiting for hte 9800 series, but I got an eVGA 8800gtx for $289 instead (w/mail in rebate).

Shouldn't be too long now.
