IBM T43 recovery CD

Hello,
I have old IBM thinkpad T43 laptop which I purchased three years ago. I tried to make recovery and rescue CDs for my new hard drive. Since I dont have DVD writer, I knew I needed a few CDs. When I was making recovery CDs, I burn about 23 CDs, and it kept saying insert a new CD. How many CDs do I need to make recovery CDs for this darn computer? I ran out of blank CDs in the middle of the process.

23? something is amiss. worse than the diskettes recovery in the old day. For the cost of the CDs and time, i recommend purchasing the replacment CD direct from Lenovo/IBM. Does not cost much

I actually called the IBM/Lenovo to ask how much the recovery CDs are. I told him what happened. He told me that recovery CDs can be 5 to 30 CDs depends on systems. Yes, 30 CDs. I agree with you, qhn. Who has time to burn 30 CDs?

30 CDs, they are nuts! good luck, pound them good, might get a discount on the re-ordering

30 CD's?! you would think that since the T43 has a dvd reader they could at least have an option to make a recovery DVD...but then again, that's still what, 9 DVD's? sigh...

The T43 1875, which I have, requires 6 recovery disks plus a boot disk. This set restores the machine to the original factory condition.

I don't think I have my copies anymore but I do have a Norton Ghost image of the factory restore with no users setup, ie. before the first boot. before I made the image I put AVG free antivirus on the desktop so I could do the restore, install the anti-virus and get that happy before I connected to the internet for updates.

I could make a copy of my ghost image for you, it requires 3 DVDs and includes the MBR.

I have the similar problem on my T43 .. lost the Access IBM function by I accidentally did something stupid to the files in HD. Then I called Lenovo support center to ask for a recovery CD, it cost $82.50AUD! That is far more than I expect .. But I think it's just 1 DVD.
