When I plug my flat panel into my 5660 I go into display controls and select the monitor as display.

What do I do inorder to have the flat panel be an extension of my desktop to have all the room of the 5660 dsplay and the flat panel as one big huge desktop?

Right Now it is a mirror image of my laptop.

Right click your desktop and go to properties... click the settings tab and right click on the "2" that signifies the 2nd monitor and select "attached". Click "apply" and you may want to change the resolution, color qualities, and refresh rate of the #2 display. Now you should be able to drag items off the side of your LCD and show up on the external monitor (going off memory here, be easy).

I suspect not, given your old laptop is not natively a display, its a computer.
