I've been in phase 4 for nearly the entire time I've been waiting. My friend who goes to the same school as me (relevance: same area), placed an order later on the same day that I placed my order and is somehow at phase 6. He briefly went to phase 8 but then was demoted to 6 again. Our orders are almost identical except he opted for the full HD while I chose 720p. So if it is the chassis like they are saying how is his at phase 6 while mine is at phase 4? I realize that there is probably information that I am unaware of, that if I knew, I might not be asking this question. But for $3000, I deserve to be made aware of any and all developments concerning my computer. If I wanted to be kept in the dark I would have ordered a mass produced system from a big name company. I realize a lot of people probably come on here and whine because they have been in the same phase for 2 days...but I think there is some actual validity to my complaint. I have patiently waited for nearly a month. I have received no emails telling me there was a part back-ordered. I have had to do all of the foot-work by calling repeatedly only to be told some weird, seemingly unlikely excuse, as to why I haven't moved out of phase 4 and why my computer is not in my possession right now. I mean I placed the damn order on the 28th of April! Okay....now I am whining. Sorry. I'm just really frustrated. AW doesn't start doing anything until the payment goes through...so all the while I am without a product, interest is building on MY FRIEND'S credit card. And their only answer is 'call back in 2 days....' or...'call back next week.' I just don't understand how they can continue to get away with stuff like this. Yet if you go on their site, they are advertising certain models with a 7 day turn-around. They are constantly coming up with new ideas (i.e. overclocked alx that was just posted today)...but why would you keep moving forward if you are spinning your wheels with unhappy customers who are forced to sit and wait because you can't get the production process right with models that are ALREADY OUT and orders are still waiting? Like they have been telling me the justification is that when they went to build my computer they noticed that the part was backordered but on their site it says that once the payment is received all of the parts are reserved for that system. If that were the case...this issue wouldn't have been an issue. They would've known weeks ago that they would have had to order my part. Did they end up backordered on a system that was being built before mine and decided to take a part that was reserved for my system? I just feel betrayed. I spent nearly all of my money on this system. Money that I worked very hard for. Yet I can't say that Alienware is working as hard for me. That hurts when you go around telling people how great a company is only to spend so much money and then be lied to (seemingly) in the process. Sorry for the lengthy post. Also, thanks for letting me vent. I'm not sure if this should be a new thread so I'll post here and a new thread as well. Remove if necessary.

We will recommend to contact our Order Status dept to obtain detailed information about your order. Please know we do everything possible to have the system shipped within the time frame given and if there is a delay on a part, customer should be notified immediately. We apologize for this inconvenience.

It is likely that ordering a pre configured system such as the "area 51 m7950 gamers choice" will be a much faster prosses, this is so because they likely build a number of them ahead of time. Also your less likley to see issuse caused by hardware and drivers, Because when alienware preconfigures a system they can put components toghether that they know work well togheter, plus if you were to put the same configuration together in the custom config section it would also cost more. So you see it's just easier for them.
