Upgraded: Horrible Performance

I upgraded to a 2.2Mhz Duo 2 Core
& Quadro FX2500 600/700 overclocked

My 3Dmark 2006 score is about 4500.

I noticed during the graphic test the frame rate goes from around 40fps to 1-4fps and then back up and down. Usually it would drop 5-10fps but never from a whooping 40fps to 1fps.

What could be the caused of this? I have a 120w power supply. Could that be the cause? I've tried different drivers. It's configured perfectly.

Bad graphic card or is it a power issue? But then if it was a power issue wouldn't the computer just restart?

Sounds like a heatproblem. Have you checked the temperatures?

What operating system are you running? I have to overclock my 7900GTX to the max and I only get mid 5000s in 06.

My E1705 with the same card and a T7200 CPu scored 5400 in 3Dmark06

What are your full system specs ?

I overclocked it to 600/700 and it hit a peak of 85C during the test

I got 5600

Is this a good score? What about the heat? 85C doesn't seem too bad as long as I don't go over 90

2.16ghz duo 2 core
FX 2500M graphic card
2GB 667mhz
XP MCE

The only thing I did different was replace my power supply. It was the same power supply but the one I used for the first test I got from Ebay and it looked cheap. I put the original in and it was stable and I got 5600.
Ebay crap for the loss

I think your score is around where it should be

I had 4 GB Memory
7200 RPM 160 GB HD
and a T7200 which will peform better than a T5600

Frankly, it sounds like a Speedstep issue to me. Cyclic good/bad/good/bad... performance, often the processor stepping down in frequency way too aggressively.

Your graphics card could easily be to blame. You have overclocked the card but the card does not have to overheat for it to throttle down. You should see how the card performs at stock settings. If anything, your core overclock would be the problem. However, since you say the performance goes up and down I'd question the GPU angle. I mean usually when the GPU throttles down due to problems, it stays throttled down for quite a while.
