Is my 6800 Go Ultra really dead?

Thread Starter
Also posted in the 17" DELL notebooks forum to ask about upgrade paths for the XPS m170/2 but thinking about it more I'm a little concerned with the 6800 Go Ultra cards.

I've tried all number of things to bring it back, including removing and reseating the card itself. Blind flashed the rom back to stock (many thanks to zzpulp for the walkthrough!) but to no avail.

Getting no display at POST at all, even though it still boots through to XP eventually.

The machine itself is out of it's warranty period. I got the machine second hand and have been told that the GPU was already replaced last November (a refurb from DELL). I'm pretty surprised to find another GPU fail after such a short length of time - but I'm wondering if DELL will even support me, given that its out of warranty and I'm not the original purchaser.

Advice appreciated!

If you're afraid of Dell not supporting you, buy another 6800 Ultra or 7800GTX off of eBay and use one of the helpful tutorials on this site to help you install it.
