Inspiron 1720 screen replacement

I am considering buying a new I1720 and I already have a I9300 with a WUXGA screen so I was wondering if I could buy a I1720 with a crappy screen and just swap it with my new one? This of course involves me actually removing the LCD panel from the laptop lid.

I'm not sure but I wouldn't try it.

The WUXGA on the 9400/1705 was a lot brighter than the one on the 9300. The 1720 is a little brighter than the 9400/1705, but the colors seem to be a lot better. Light leakage in the 1720 is much lower as well.

I know that every dollar counts, but the WUXGA screen on the 1720 is only $150 more and its much better than the one on the 9300.

None of this applies to the standard 1440x900 true life version that is standard on the 1720. Its terrible. I mean really terrible. Its jagged and blocky with terrible light leakage in a semi-circle covering the bottom HALF of the screen. The brightness shift that occurs with even small changes in viewing angle is like the old Inspiron 8100 - I am not kidding. Its a true piece of crap. Night and day different from the 1920x1200 truelife version.

If that is the case then I will just pay the extra money. I thought I had found a way to save money and also find an excuse to use miniature tools, but i guess not.
