if after you update all your drivers and still NO JOY? you may need to do a clean install of Vista Home Premium to get SP1 to install on your MT3705
the reason for having to do this may be cuz you have some corrupt windows files, but finding out just what they are won't be easy.......better to just start-out-fresh w/ a Clean install of Vista...........Quote:

Do you have your anti-virus and Gateway drivers up to date?

i know for a fact, i have all my driver updated except for my sound. the lastest update i got from WU makes my sound mess up. Yes, i have anti-virus, and i remember the error code has something to do with my drivers.

Well then I would suggest a "Clean Install of Vista" something somewhere got corrupted in windows that will not allow you to install Vista SP1, and it's not your MT3705, cuz I have a MX6453 and it's almost 2 yrs. old and it shipped w/ XP MCE 2005, and I have Vista Ultimate and I'm happy to report that Vista SP1 installed just fine on my MX6453..so, on that note, I think you know what you have to do to correct this

ok, ill try the clean install, thanks everyone.
