|It's not much of a surprise, but 2K Games is making it official: Bioshock is coming to the PlayStation 3. The game is coming October 2008, and will sport "new features and content that heighten the award-winning experience." In true fashion, what those features and content will be wasn't disclosed, and the information will likely be dribbled out in the meantime to make sure the game stays in the news.
"Since Bioshock for Xbox 360 and Games for Windows won countless 2007 Game of the Year awards, we are excited to see the impact of this stellar title for the PlayStation 3 system when it debuts this fall," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms." See? I told you.
Here's my favorite bit from the official announcement: "Bioshock's extension to the PlayStation 3 system will bring exciting new content to this amazing title and reach many new players, while giving the title the opportunity to once again be named Game of the Year." That would be an impressive accomplishment, and besides, doesn't 2K Games have another title that will most likely be vying for that honor?
Taking away the cynicism, Bioshock was a great game, and the more people who get to play it, the better. This is good news for PS3 owners who will get to add a great title to their collections. Let's hope for some extensive new content for the title, as I'd love an excuse to play it again.
It looks like it might be worth buying....again.
