Mt3705 vista to sp1 problem pt.2

hi, i deciced to do the clean install but i have a couple more questions.
first, i have a d:\ (recovery) and i wantted to know do i need if i do the clean install? if i dont i can backup my important stuff to it (format it first), and install vista to c:\. ill post a pic when i get back from school.

If you want the cleanest install, I would backup my files first to a CD or external hard drive then formate the whole hard drive and install Vista back in. The D: drive is a recovery partition that would reload Windows back into C. You would basically be at the same condition you were before with all the preloaded crap. If you have the vista reinstall disc, I would go that route and install a fresh OS on one partition to make things easier.
