Vista Home Premium - computer freezing

I own a Toshiba laptop - Model A135-S4437 - that I bought it February of 2007. It has Vista Home Premium for its OS. I have had a continual problem of the computer completely freezing up on me (and I have to manually shut it down and then start it up again). It seems to happen only when I am on the internet (and I use my computer for work, so I am on the internet frequently). Has anyone else had this problem with Vista ?? I'd be curious to hear what people may think. My computer tech guy does not think it is a software problem but he is not sure.

. what have u done so far since u first had the laptop?
. was there a pattern as when it started to freeze?
. what have u tried so far to try to fix it?
