Where would be a place for someone to get a loan for a laptop around $1,000 - 1,5-00 to get a macbook for school? I don't really have any credit, just got a credit card about 4 months ago, but I am working on it. I can't seem to find any places that sound decent.

Some banks actually give out "computer loans" like that. If not, you're looking at a personal loan, which you will get boned in the interest and end up paying 33% more than you want.

yea u can try getting credit through newegg credit membership which offers 0% apr for 12 months, or u can try opening up another credit card that offers 0% apr for 12 months and pay off the laptop in a year without interest.

Apple offers financing but I've heard the interest rates are shit. And as Steve said some banks offer small loans. I would try and get my credit limit raised instead as credit cards generally have much lower interest rates.

The best thing to do, however, is to forget credit and loans and save up the money to buy it outright.

Alienware and Dell also offer 12 months 0% interest financing. That means if you buy a $2000 laptop, put $1000 down payment on it, you have a year to pay off the remaining $1000 or you will be charged interest on that year. Its a great deal.

If you qualify for federal financial aid and your tuition and books won't eat up the entirety of a Pell grant and stafford loan you should get enough of a refund check to buy a fairly nice laptop. Stafford loans are about $1500/semester for full time. However, the only drawback will be that you won't have the refund check BEFORE classes start.
