Is it worth upgrading my m1710 with m1730s & m17xs out there?

Thread Starter
I've got an M1710 with the following specs:

T2600 Core Duo
2 GB RAM
7900 GTX
200GB 7200 Hitachi HD
Windows Vista Ultimate x86

My question: Is it worth upgrading to the T7600/7600G, 7950GTX and 3/4 GB of RAM on this machine?

Right now, I'm getting 3dmark06 scores in the 3600s and, though I can play some games, others don't play as well on the high resolution with high graphics settings (I'm not even talking about Crysis).

I've considered upgrading but not sure if it's worth the cost versus saving that money for a new m1730 or new area-51 m17x.

Opinions?

IMO the T7200 would be the most ecomical upgrade for the CPU

4 GB ram is a cheap upgrade as well.

your not going to get that much more from a 7950 GTX, leave your GPU as is.

your HD is fine as is, unless your looking for more space.

The CPU T7200 can be had for around $ 200.00 and the memory under 100.

Still a decent performance increase, but still no where that of a M1730 with 8800 Sli GPU, then again not spending 4k either.

Also the gateway P 6831-FX at best buy which has a single 8800GTS card benchmarks at 7400 in 3DMark06, is a great deal @ the $ 1200.00 price tag.

Last, It is rumoured that some new dell laptops models are due in June, maybe some new choices to be had there as well

Only the P6860FX is on BB.com now, and it's got a 1440x900 17" screen. You'd need to pair the 6860 with a 1920x1200-capable TN LCD to get close to the same usability resolution-wise.
