Page fault in non-paged area

Not had my laptop back from repair for more than 4days and now have the same BSOD error- Page fault in non-paged area, as before. I am at a loss, what do i do. When the laptop works, it works beautifally, but I need a reliable laptop, not a sometimeish laptop. I have owned this notebook less than a month, i regularly run virus checks, hard disk error checks, the works. I have even done an OS rebuild but to no avail. You never know when its gonna happen. I never had a single BSOD on my 5 year old Tecra.

HELP!!!!

AREA 51M, Conspiracy Blue, 16.1", 3ghz, 1024mb Ram,60gb HD, ATI 9600, DVD/CD-RW

Did they say what the problem was? I assume you meant back from Alienware, and that you purchased from Alienware?. Depending on what they already did to try to fix this, you could probably ask for a replacement (again assuming you got it from Alienware). Check for Updated drivers, and Updated Bios, but they probably would have told you or did this at depot.

Since you are still within a month, I would probably request a replacement and an extension on the 30 return period to give you time to make a decision and see that the next one is too your liking. I don't know if they will extend the 30 days or not, but that is what I would request.

Yes I bought it from Alienware.co.uk, It arrived back from repair on Fri, there was no note as to say what they repaired of fixed? It just turned up.

I shall give it till th end of the week and if the errors continue, then Ill ask for my money back. £2300 is a lot of money, i could have bought a Powerbook instead.

This is a driver problem with the ATi card (assuming you have an ATi card in that system). I had the same problem. Do all the windows updates and update your video driver. If the problem still occurs then post here and we'll see what we can do...

Cheers!

If what gsminardi mentioned doesn't work, give AW a call and ask what they did to try and fix it, to give a better idea where the problem may be.

It is probably either drivers or hardware, finding out what hardware they replaced will help narrow it down

This sounds quite similar to the issues kournikova is having, and some of the comments about bad Mobos going out.

You might want to try giving your system a good run through with memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/). You might have bad RAM. It's a tough one to troubleshoot since page faults generaly deal with virtual memory, but it still could be issues with physical memory... Your computer may not be able to map virtual address to real addresses because your RAM has errors/issues? dunno? Give memtest86 a try -- it's a shot in the dark, but it's worth a try.

Two new Ram sicks arrived today, I have put them in so hopefully this will solve the BSOD. I will run the memtest program see what happens.

Cheers 4 all your help
