I have a Vaio (model VGN-NR220E) with Windows XP SP3 installed. After some hunting around (and some very helpful advice from here), everything appears to be working. No more missing/unknown devices, just about everything appears to be working.
The only remaining problem seems to be with putting the computer in standby or hibernate. As soon as I try to do either, the computer crashes hard - no BSOD or anything else. It just goes back to POST and then boots back up.
The machine is running a clean install of Windows XP with the only other software installed being the device drivers from the Sony eSupport site, the URL mentioned above, and the updates from the Windows Update site.
Has anyone else encountered this? Does anyone have a fix or workaround (other than not using the standby/hibernate functions)?
Thanks.
