Wrong replacement lcd for my DV8000?

Hi there!
I currently bought a replacement lcd for my HP DV8000 off ebay but after installing it the connector just doesnt seem to fit into my laptop. My old lcd support WXGA 1440 x 900 and I bought a new one with WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050. The seller said it supposed to support all series of DV8000 but after trying the connector, the connector of the new lcd is bigger than the old lcd. Does any know why is that? Or I bought the wrong lcd? or is there any way to arrange it?
Thanks

do you mind to clarify how do i replace the inverter for the lcd? I mean the old lcd inverter was smaller than the new one. Is it possible to replace the new one with a smaller inverter?
Thanks for the reply

here is what you do. check to see if the plug coming from the LCD, which is the plug for the bulb, and make sure they are identical. Otherwise you will need to cut off the connectors and solder together the connector that will fit the original inverter.

I have never seen different inverters for the dv8000. they were all the same size...

the lcd ribbon cable attaches fine to the back of the LCD right? is that what you were asking?

Go to this page at HP.com: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/c...3304185&dlc=en

Click the Chat with a support technician. Ask if your laptop supports the WSXGA monitor. You will need to grab your Serial Number, Product Number, and Model Number from the underside of your computer. They will have your answer for you in minutes.

I need to replace the screen in my dv8000 (dv8408us) and HP tells me my laptop only supports the WXGA monitor. Bummer, but they saved me weeks of hassle.

Good luck!

For your particular model number, this is the part number for the screen that you need:

430534-001

Thanks [NFO]N0S for the tip on the part number. I bought the new screen and popped it in. I had dropped the closed laptop (LCD side down) onto a hardwood floor from a short height, and right away the DV8000 (dv8408us) exhibbited the following issues:

1. vertical lines
2. flickering "analog" noise
3. Blacks had a lot of red in them
4. Screen looked like it had been reduced to 16bit or 8bit color, with a lot of stepping in image gradients.

Replacing the screen has fixed problem 1. Problem 2 is 90% better. Problem 3 is 75% improved.

Problem 4 is unaffected. And this is a tough one as I do a lot of Photoshop and video editing. I can't skate by with Thousands of colors.

When I run a second VGA monitor off of the laptop the image quality is the same as it ever was. My video card is an nVidia GEFORCE Go 7600. Looks great.

Any idea what the issue might be? Do I need a new inverter, too?

Thanks for any insight you might have.

Dan
