New Dell Studio 1735

Thread Starter
Just stumbled upon the new service manuals for the Dell Studio 1735 and 1535/1536 laptops. No pictures of either system other than in the disassembly instructions.

The Studio 1735 specs are pretty well identical to the Inspiron 1720 with plans to re-tool the systems for montevina later on. Cosmetically the Studio 1735 shares no parts with the Inspiron 1720. The 1735 is a wedge design like the M1330 and M1530 laptops. Best graphics you can get in the 1735 is the 8600M GT.

The 15" systems have additional options for ATI graphics but otherwise specs are the same as the 1525/1526 Inspirons. Same design though, wedge shaped like the XPS 13" and 15"

It also looks like Vostro is going to be its own brand and not a simple re-color of another brand that's marketed towards businesses. The 1310 1510 and 1710 don't seem to share any parts with any other model.

Release date for the new Studios is off since the service manual says 5/26 (which has come and gone) your guess is as good as mine as to when they debut. However, I personally hope some new Latitudes aren't too far behind.

the facelift is a welcome change IMO.

but still only offering the 8600... what a shame. i miss the days where you could buy an inspiron with the exact same specs as an xps.

...for less money Plus you can upgrade it to a "XPS-like" machine later.

I just ordered a studio 15 last week and i'm waiting to get it to see how it performs on gaming.

They are on Dell's website now. Lots of little goodies built-in, like slot-loading DVD drive, fingerprint reader, some cool little touches here and there, and quite good-looking, too. Something like that in high-performance would be welcome. The available specs of the Studios are a bit anemic...
