Other than gaming-does the M15x perform well with MS Office, etc?

As my other post said already, I want to get a M15x soon and nicely equipped one at that. I am still a student and would like to know if this machine is good at running Office and other basic programs as well as being an awesome gaming rig? Thanks.

For comparison, I've got MS Office 2007 on my 3 year old notebook with a Pentium M processor and it runs fine. Unlike their newest operating system, Microsoft's latest office version should run well on most anything- especially a high-powered system like the M15X. You shouldn't have any problems at all.

if any computer is a gaming laptop then it has the balls to run small programs that are not taxing on the computer like word excel or anything like that....

If you are thinking in terms of load times. If you get the X9000, have 4gb of ram, turbo cache, and a 7200rpm HDD, the load of a file the size of MS Office 07 should almost be instantaneous.

littlefrankus is right, systems built for gaming are basically topped out in every category, so they'll run everything well.

It took me 7 seconds to open Word2007 and 14 seconds to open Photoshop CS3 on my m15x just now.

T9300 2.5ghz, 4gb ram, 1gb turbo cache, etc.

I had a 2 hr divx movie running, 2 tabs in firefox open, aim open, and numerous small applications.

Note, on closing word and opening it again, it only took 2 seconds to open.

I run office 03 on this and it loads fast. I have the 2.4Ghz. processor with 3 gigs of ram.

Very nice. Koshinn...I probably won't use OFFICE until school starts again in the Fall! lol
