VoodooPC's Website on Fire!

It's hard to tell what this means. Are they ready to launch something new? Are they shutting down? Maybe launching a new site? Not much information is coming out of VooDooPC right now but as you can see for yourself, the website is on fire.

Huh? I thought HP owned them now.

HP does own them now. I suspect the "site on fire" is a preparation for a new product (or perhaps a new product line). Engadget wrote that something was up with Voodoo and included a picture of the head of the company (in an HP shirt) cutting his birthday cake with a MacBook Air and making some kind of comment about how he wouldn't be needing it (the MB Air) anymore.

As you've probably noticed, VoodooPC.com is on fire. Great news: The fire department is on the scene, battling the blaze like true Canadian heroes. Unfortunately, they're not letting anyone back into our community to register or post until they can guarantee it's safe (and totally awesome). Expect exciting developments on June 10th.

I'd assume it's because nobody can afford anything at Voodoo, so Rahul is making a claim on his fire insurance.

Looks like they're finally revamping their old and slow website, and may be introducing a new laptop as well.

Unless the offer some "burning" deals, or cut some of their costs with the mac air, it's likely just more smoke and mirrors from Voodoo.

It would be great if it was a fire sale.

Reasonable prices would put Voodoo in the competition game so to speak. This could be cool. Glad I just spent 2 grand on a Macbook PRO....LOL

wow, this is exciting!

If prices are reasonable it would be a major change. This whole premium PC thing is tough to sell with the economy how it is.

Actually, I'd disagree with you there. Voodoo makes no pretense that their ridiculously overpriced machines are anything but a luxury item, and there will always be people with a lot of cash who want to buy a luxury item. Why else do you think companies make diamond-encrusted cell phones? They're not aimed at the general public. They're aimed at people who want something distinctive so they can stand out from the rest of their wealthy friends.

Why did it take so long for them to speed up the site? It's been horrible for years!

I thought the older models looked cooler.

Reminds me of the guy that posted in the AW section a couple years ago asking questions about his Alienware he bought on eBay. He finally posted a picture, and it was a several years old laptop with an alienhead glued to the lid....

Seeing as how they haven't shipped any Envy's yet, the eBay thing is likely another rip off, and why it's gone already...

The envy seems interesting, but wouldn't suit any of my needs for a laptop.

Nope - the auction's legit. They added to it syaing "this is an official HP auction" and putting up a bunch of pictures of the Envy.

It's only at $1000 bucks right now -- I wonder if HP would actually let it go for less than the $2099 starting price for the Envy ...
