Why no info on M17x outside of its webpage!?!?!

I would LOVE to see some personal pics of the M17x. So I can see it in a real world environment instead of just a white background. I especially want to see it side by side with the m15x. But outside of Alienwares web page gallery I cant find shyt! Why is it that hardly anyone has posted any pics of the M17x?? Why the lack of info on it here as well, and NO reviews either for it ANYWHERE.

Also is there ever gonna be a black M15x??

And is it possible to upgrade the CPU on the M17x on my own?? (I build computers and stuff I know how to do it, just not if its possible on the Alienware laptops.)

Thanks

Frank

I'm not sure anyone has received one yet. They just opened up the order page not long ago.

There should be some media reviews along shortly though...

Unfortunately, upgrading the cpu on any Alienware system will void the warranty. You could upgrade it, then if you ever have reason to send it in for warranty work, put the original cpu back in... The reason they won't allow user upgraded cpus is that too many customers broke their motherboards back when they used to allow it. You can upgrade any other component except the chassis/screen without voiding the full warranty. Alienware won't offer support for hardware you buy elsewhere either, obviously...

Wait, didn't it open in April?? Thats plenty of time for people to receive them. Or was it may??

Well if anyone does know of any reviews, or just any personal pics that someone took of it on a desk or something, PLEASE let me know. I need to order real soon, and I am torn whether or not to get the m17 or the M15. Right now I'm set on the M17, only because I hate the glossy grey color on the M15. It makes it look cheap and cheesy. If the m15x was a flat grey color, I would like it better. The matt black look on the M17, looks more profesional. I am going to be using it for College, but I dont mind the extra size of the M17. Im a muscular atheltic person, so I dont mind that.

They opened it for pre-orders I think, but it takes a while for Alienware to get systems out the door after orders, especially with new platforms.

I think most estimated delivery dates I've seen were in June.

I didn't like the grey on the m9700 either, but it looks a lot better in person than on the web page. With the m9700, it's a rough metalic silver paint, with a thick clear coat, so it's a lot better looking than you'd think...

Not sure when the 15x will be offered in black, but it's supposed to be along soon...

When I configure the M17x on there website, once I add it to my cart and everything, it says ship date, would be July 11th for my order. So people who ordered it in the first week or so of its release have for sure gotten it. (I know because ALienware is very strict when it comes to getting there products out to customers, thats why the order time is so glorified) But maybe the ones that have gotten it just arnt into putting pics up on websites, etc.

I think that the ship date hasn't change since the launch of the 17x... but you could go on AWnetwork to look at the 17x as it is the next best thing available for now.

No, it has changed, it depends on what day you build a setup and the parts you put in it. Like 2 days ago, it said estimated ship date was July 9th. A week ago it said like July 4th. I'm talking about the ship date, so the date they are done building it, etc and are ready to SHIP it to you. It has been shipping out I know that. Cause they opened it up for orders over a month ago. So the first ones probably went out just a couple weeks ago. And they haven't said anything about not shipping yet.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Alienware is known for missing their estimated ship dates, especially with new platforms...

yeah when I bought my m9750 they missed the ship date by two months... if there are no reviews or anyone talking about the computer at their house then no one has recieved theres yet...

The other things is it doesnt seem like there are a lot of ppl buying the 17x i mean no hype from the media, little hype here, and only some hype over in notebookreviews. Along with the factor that ppl will be waiting for monte and the new 9 series gpu. Lastly the m15x seems to be the perfect laptop that everyone seems to love or want. Oh and seems like parts have been delayed to late june dunno which ones but this got a nbr member to cancel his/her order.

2 months?? Wtf?? You sure about that? It says shipping in 7 days. If they were missing them that bad I'm sure there would be some fallout from it. Maybe you were just unlucky.

I still don't see how it would take so fukin long for them to ship the m17x. Im pretty sure they have shipped some.

You mean parts for the m17x?

Im starting to get pissed, I cant find out for sure if there shipping it or not damnit, and I need to order within the next week. Im starting to think I should just get the M9750. With its price I have alot more room to add things. LIke the SSD, 512mb dual 8700's (instead of dual 8600's on the m17x) but it pisses me off that the CPU"s are not 45nm, and ther eis no FX lighting system.

I cant get the M15x at all right now, I cant stand its color. IF they would hurry and get the damn black version out I would jump on it.

Im fukin mad now.

Call Alienware and ask them. They'll be able to tell you whether or not there are delays with the m17x.
