help with a laptop processor please!

hey guys was wondering if anybody could help me out a little. Im looking at getting a Gateway P 6831 FX notebook. I know on the newer fx ones have a latch where you can open and change out the processor. Was just wondering if i could do the same with this one? It has the intel core 2 duo t5450 in it now, and i was wanting to put something a bit faster into it like maybe the 2.5ghz one. Does anyone know if this processor would work in it, and if not can you give me one that will?

any help at all would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Yes, this laptop is a Socket P laptop built on the Santa Rosa Platform. You can upgrade to any of the T7xxx , T8xxx or T9xxx series. Just make sure theyre socket P and not Socket M. An easy way to check this if its NOT listed for the T8xxx series and above is look for 45nm instead of the wider 65nm of the meroms. You can find these parts cheap on Ebay and more expensively on Newegg.com
