|wow thats an awesome idea ... how do you make a "baseline" image?? is it possible for you to give me a link to a tutorial for making "baseline" images?? thats would be great i wanna have that perfect system with my m17x soon
My bad, I’m losing you in terminology. A PC image is a “picture” of the hardrive. You can take this “picture” and load it back on your HDD at any time and the PC will be exactly the same as when you took it. This is different then a file backup, where you back up your files. Please note, when using an image for restore EVERYTHING on your HDD will be lost and overwritten by the image.
By “baseline” image I just meant what I call “Marker01 factory defaults”. The AW respawn is just an image with the system at factory settings. So all drivers and programs when you first turned on the system are there. My image just has all my stuff on it
You can actually do imaging for free now! Vista (Business and Ultimate) includes imaging software. Its in their backup and restore center called “windows complete PC backup and Restore”
Otherwise you’ll want to check out some 3rd party imaging software. i.e. Norton Ghost
Personally I use the (more expensive) Symantec Backup exec System Recovery Desktop Edition
the compression ratio on images is impressive and that’s how I got my image with a 10GB game down to 6.2GB
PS: making the USB key bootable (so you can restore from it) is another story. Hit me up if you're going to go for it when your m17x is in
