just wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this.
Fujistu Lifebook s7020,
1.73Ghz pentuim M740
2Gb ram (2x 1024Mb)
120Gb seagate momentus hard disk
windows XP pro
the steps from power on/reboot are as follows:-
bios splash screen (can get into and out of the bios just fine.)
initial windows boot
windows did not start successfully. a recent hardware or software change yadda yadda yadda... select one of the following
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good config
start windows normally
all of the safe mode options seem to get to loading "mup.sys", then blue screen of death for a nano second, and reboots.
the other options just bluescreen after half a second, then reboot
the bluescreen doesn't give much info, at the bottom after the usual text, it just says "technical information" then a string of hex charactures
now i've tried a drive from another identical (working) s7020, and it does the same, and the original drive from the duff laptop works fine in the working laptop, (and backed it up). I've also for sake of curiosity, put in the drive from my Asus G1 running vista home premuim, and i get the initial vista boot screen with the loading lines, but then blue screens again.
I've swapped memory, hard disks with different operating systems, and not alot of options left. i guess something on the mainboard?
this machine was working fine, no problems whatsoever, no hardware change, no software change, then this?
i dunno. any one any ideas?
