Screwed up on my 1705 video drivers

Ok i changed out the video card and in the process I did a drivers cleaner and deleted all the old video drivers now the problem is that when It restarted it did so without any drivers the card and the screen works (did a diagnostics test) but how do I go about reinstalling the drivers so I can get the display to come up after the Windows XP logo. I can hear the wndows screen coming up but the screen is blank. The 7900GTX card went out so I went to to the 7800GS and I have the drivers just need to get them installed. So is there something I can do to to bring everything normal?

So you have a display until windows boots? I would try going into safe mode and installing a standard vga driver and then reboot and when into a standard windows enviroment install your nvidia drivers.
Hope this helps.

it does but I think it is the DOS screen it says Dell and then it goes into the XP logo screeen and then after that it just goes black.

then just before the windows logo keep tapping f8 and select safe mode, uninstall any nvidia driver and reboot , if you can get to windows then great if not go to safe mode again and install a standard vga controller driver for your graphics and then reboot into windows and install your nvidia drivers.
Keep us updated.

Turn your pc on, afyer the bios screen and just before the windows logo press F8 and you should see a menu and safe mode should be listed, select safe mode and once in windows go to control panel and add/remove programs and un-install your drivers, reboot and see if windows will start normally if it does not go back to safe mode and install a standard vga driver for your video card. Once again reboot and then update your video card driver with the mobileforce set obtainable from the forum.

I got the latest driver tried going into the safe mode but all I got was a list of lines that said "multidisc"

OK...

You should be getting a screen like this:

Once the Dell (BIOS) logo appears, start mashing the F8 key, and it should come up with that screen.

Hi,

This is Richard from Dell. If you see a black screen with white lines of text that all begin with multidisc, then all you have to do is wait for the admin login screen to appear. Once you're in safe mode, go to add/remove programs and look for the Nvidia driver and remove it. When it completes a pop-up windows should appear asking you to reboot.

After the system reboots you should now be able to see the screen in normal mode. Of course the display resolution will not be that great. Finally, go ahead and install the new Nvidia.

Good luck,

JUst wait for a little while. I tried booting in regular safe mode and i thought that my 1705 froze too but it seems to take longer to boot that in Safe Mode with networking. Try both and if it just hangs then I'm not sure whats wrong.. :[

you could try and do a repair installation, it takes just as long as a fresh install but it should get you back up and running, Just put in your windows cd and boot from it. Without going into to much detail just follow on screen instructions .

I still have no idea what you're talking about with "multi disk screen".

Take a picture with a digital camera of what you're talking about.

It is the screen you see right after you select safe mode.
