No audio output device installed

No audio output device installed, the report I now have on my HP530. I did have audio, and for a lappy, it was pretty good, but now it has gone. I keep getting sent an update for the conexant HD smart audio HD2, which fails to install, with the error code 800705B4. I have tried downloading manually from HP support, but that fails to install too. This machine is only six months old and has vista home basic installed as standard. I have mailed HP for a solution and await their reply. I hope the reply is fruitful, else my next option is warranty, as to me, something not working is broken. Has anyone any ideas ?

SORTED !

From HP, and it worked, just perform the installation in safe mode;

I understand that you are getting the 'No audio output device installed'.

To troubleshoot the issue, please perform the following steps:

Please navigate to Device manager and then check if the sound device have any exclamation marks listed.

If so, please right-click the same and then uninstall the same.

Restart the notebook and install the following:

Download and install the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp33867) from the following link:

Download and install the Conexant CX20549-12 Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows XP from the following link:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...tem=ob-57255-1

NOTE: You could find the installation instruction on the same down load page. The unit will prompt to reboot the unit after installation. Please reboot the unit after installing each update.
