TX1000 Wireless lan card mysteriously disappears

Thread Starter
Hi all,
I have been using a tx1000 (tx1013, to be exact) for more than a year now, and it's been fine. (I downgraded it to XP from the original vista).

Until two days back everything was completely fine, but yesterday morning, mysteriously the Wireless Lan option itself disappeared without any trace. The hardware just went completely out of hte notice. It was not even listed in the device manager.

I do have an external wireless network switch. Switching it on usually switched on both bluetooth and wireless networks. But only bluetooth is switching on now..

I installed the HP wireless assistant program and it gave me some help.
Quote:
In some models, Device Manager cannot detect a WLAN device that has been disabled using the Computer Setup utility, and the device cannot be turned on by any other method. If a WLAN device is not listed, check to see if the device has been disabled in the BIOS. See Using the Computer Setup utility.
I thought, "Oh, that's it! I will just go to the BIOS and switch it back on..."

But unfortunately, there was no such option in the BIOS setup under System Configuration.

I'm just stuck with this laptop without wifi access and it's irritating. Im just wondering if anyone can advice me in this regard or I will have to go to my laptop service center and pay them to fix this (or not, I don't know. In India these people are quite dumb).

Thanks in advance,
Ramraj
