Looks like Imperious has justa bout all the info needed to make an intelligent Alienware purchase.
As previously stated, purchase the minimum RAM and when the machine arrives, verify the type and buy same cheaper around the corner...I've talked to many people that are "seeing" 4GBs in the last few weeks with Vista 32. It's a long drawn out thang but 3GB should be minimum I'd think you'd want in a m15x.
Order the machine over the tele with an Alienware salesperson, not on-line. Make sure the order is placed immediately by your salesperson, then get Alienware billing dept rep on the phone with a three way with you and your card provider. Make sure your sales rep is still at work just in case you have to get 'em to talk to the billing rep...so you'd wanna do this early in the work day Florida EST and not on a Friday. Do all this and then make sure the debits/charges go thru before hanging up and get email confirmation from all parties.
But...before you go thru all that hassle, make sure your billing address and
shipping address is noted on your account with the card provider and you have Alienware as an authorized company to debit/charge your card. Make Alienware billing dept. aware of the fact that your billing/shipping address is different (if indeed it is) and that it is
noted on your account with your card provider. Alienware billing dept. may give you grief but stand your ground. I have never, ever received an Alienware machine at the Bill To address...
Take into account any daily limits your card may have. Last machine I bought was with a debit card and a $2,500 limit on any one 'swipe' up to $10,000 in a 24 hour period. Alienware confused that and thought they could only do a $2,500 'swipe' one day and the balance the next day...took me about 5 minutes arguing with the AW billing rep. This after the rules were clearly stated by my card provider to him on the phone. Finally got him to try another 'swipe'...yep you guessed it, went thru just fine. Received the desktop machine nine daze before the Estimated Ship Date. You gotta love Alienware!!!
All just a suggestion...but I'd bet will save close to a weeks processing time.
Good luck Imperious and I hope you purchase the m15x...I think you will be impressed.Zoid
