I bought one a few months ago. I use it for attending class at night and working on homework during lunch, etc. I had an HP tablet that was giving me problems and was taking HP a long time to repair and I was getting frustrated at the wait for the repair.
At first I thought about a cheap Dell but looking around campus I keep seeing more and more macs so I thought I would take a look at them. The Pros were a little too big, my desired screen size was 12 to 14 inches. The macbooks were nice too, but when I started playing witht the Air I was hooked.
I got the 1.6Ghz processor with 80 Gig harddrive. It handles office programs really well, internet performance has no issues and the wireless connectivity is better than my HP tablet. The trackpad is great as well, I did not think I would use the multitouch features that much, but I find myself missing them when working on other laptops.
It does get warm, but no different than any other laptop. I also use an external drive for my music files and that works good as well.
I also bought a WaterField sleeve for $60 to keep it protected when not in use. I also transport it in a swiss gear backpack in a section by itself and it is quite sturdy in of itself.
let me know if you need any other info.
