Vista NO MORE!!!!!! - Page 2

Why can't they (MS) just make something that really works ?

Vista does work...problems are rare now, and are usually attributed to 3rd party driver or software issues.

I can understand the lack of 3D performance some people have, but in general, people whinge about Vista without even trying it or giving it a chance. There's nothing wrong with it.

I was running Vista Beta on my old 9300 (single core 2GHz, 1GB RAM) and it ran with no problems at all...

Good words.

Vista's security measures (ie UAC) have ultimately pissed folks off - but I don't believe they truly understand how it all works.

It'll take some time.....

By the time people come around to accepting Vista, MS will have the new OS out lol

I have been benchmarking my laptop with Vista and XP, so far every test has been faster in XP. even with 64 Bit Vista not really impressed yet.

I will try to tweat Vista to see if I can come close to XP performance.

although i see your point, i dont agree completly. i gave vista every opportunity to work, i didnt have a choice. i'm glad that most on here have had a great experience with vista, but i think that most (look at what even dell is doing extending the xp on some computers) have really had some serious issues with the system. i think the question becomes, do we like vista for the eye candy and neato new features? or are we actually impressed with the performance that the new os offers. for me, it was mostly eye candy i guess, beacuse i just like xp better right now. does it not get old everytime you try to install something, hoping and praying that it'll install right the first time? it did for me. i wanted to be able to just use the system for what it was, not have to have some sort of certification just to make my printers work. make any sense? i know that i'll eventually at some point have to use vista, i can only hope that by the time that happens, vista will be where xp is now. or that the new os is here and gets it right.

one more thing i thought about. the fact that it IS third party drivers and software should be a huge issue! that means that if it doesnt say microsoft on it somewhere, i cant use it. that shouldnt be the case. i should not be enslaved (so to speak) to one company merely based on the fact that they created the os that my system runs on.

I agree. My biggest and only problems were related to 3D drivers on the 1730. My SLI 8800 GTS (G92) / E8400 rig runs flawlessly with 8GB Ram on Vista 64. My 1710 and 9300 ran it just fine too. It's only the 1730 that is giving me issues. I will never go back to XP on my desktops, and if I can get beyond this issue on my 1730 I will happily run Vista on it as well (heck I have the license; might as well use it if I can).
