BSOD with NBF 175.16 watching MKVs

Does anyone has the following combo installed :
NBF 175.16 + CoreAvc 1.6.5 + BSPlayer 2.24 ?

When watching MKVs every now and then i get a BSOD caused by nv4_mini.sys.
This happened to me with the specified combo and to a friend of mine with the same spec but the driver was NBF 174.31.

Any solutions maybe ?

If two of you are having the same problem, with the same combination of programs, but different drivers, then it's obviously not a driver problem...

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet.
We both had that configuration for a long time with 169.04 with no problems whatsoever.
Both of us upgraded, me to 175.16, him to 174.31 and both of us started having this problem.
So, i'd conclude that it is a video driver problem and both drivers share the same issue.

Never had any problems with fddshow and mpc or anything like that. Maybe those are worth a try.

I agree: download the ace mega codec pack which comes with MPC and a whole other load of goodies (including haali motroska splitter i think) and ffdshow and you're sorted....hopefully

I kinda like the minimalistic approach of CoreAVC + Matroska Splitter + BSPlayer.
FFDShow installs so much "garbage".... And MPC is not the "prettiest" kid on the block - i like the gui and extra features of BSPlayer

I'm not sure about ffdshow installing a lot of garbage... but it is frequently updated and you can chose what you want and don't want. About MPC being ugly, I guess that doesn't matter if all you are after is performance and stability. I kind of like the old school look.

Can't really argue about MPC

It really sounds as though it's a software, non-driver issue. It's possible that those pieces of software just don't like the newer drivers. I just use ffdshow and MPC, and have no issues, and have also never heard of any of the software you listed previously (BSPlayer, CoreAVC) nor do I know anyone who uses them.

CoreAVC is probably the fastest high definition H.264 video decoder. And BSPlayer... Come on, everybody know BSPlayer.

and if you are wanting to play matroska files i assume they are hd and therefore you will wanting to be running in fullscreen no? In my experience all media players look pretty similar when running in fullscreen (apart from wmp which places these annoying grey bars)

True, but in my defense , BSPlayer has subtitles correction capability (shift them left or right) and a lot of little features that i use which are missing AFAIK from MPC.

OK, you're using an OLD version of BSPlayer and CoreAVC. Like I had said above, it doesn't at all sound like a DRIVER issue, but rather a software issue, meaning that one, or both, of those pieces of software just might not get along correctly with newer drivers.

BSPlayer 2.28
CoreAVC 1.7.0.0

Try updating your software.

You are probably right, BSPlayer version that i am using is 2.24.
CoreAVC is 1.7.
I'll try to update to 2.28 and report back.
Thanks a lot!
