well it runs 4 gb or ram and its showing up .when I got my m15x the webcam wasn't conected internally so I sent it in and when i got it back it read 4gb instead of 3 so i think it might have been the service pack 1. I run really big adobe programs such as photoshop and dreamweaver so the ram really helps and I havent played many graphics demaning games I play ounter strike source and halo2 but when you recive your laptop you will have a bench mark doc and mine was able to run doom 3 at 159.2 fps. Trust me this is the best laptop you'll ever own the only thing that sucks is the battery life. It runs really smooth.

I had a dell desktop too. POS it had low ram and it could handle any adobe CS3 software so I bought an alienware. it was this or an apple. I really can't stand apple users. They think their better then everyone else because they use an apple computer. So I went with alienware.

Can you run a 3dmark06 benchmark? i'm very curious on how the 8700 holds up on this guy

Just over a year ago, you could not find a 15" notebook with anything more powerful then the 7600, none offered even the 7700 (i.e. my m5550). I think the 8700 is an awsome option for those who will not go nuts for the 8800 GTX.

you can get about 4 hours of battery life out of the m15x if you follow the sticky that shows how to get extra battery life out of it...

i didnt think 32 bit OS could see all 4 gigs... 64 bit I know can address all 4 gigs...

Yes, but they really didn't fix it... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605

it shows the 4 gb in the welcome center
the welcome center will show 4 gigs if you have that much installed but it cant use all 4 gigs since some is take up by other components...

why you got to bust balls
I don’t think littlefrankus is trying to bust balls I just think he is trying to alleviate confusion. By Microsoft, with Vista SP1 you can now see the actual physical memory installed in your system. But Vista 32 is only capable of using 3.12GB of memory.

I wouldn’t want someone looking for memory advice on purchasing additional memory to think over 3GB will improve their system. But it is pretty much standard to sell new systems with a 4GB configuration, just dont buy anymore.

Memory limitations are the biggest bottleneck in a 32bit operating system. You don’t see it in desktops but don’t get me started on page pool and non-page pool memory problems in the server world… Vista/XP64 would be a great OS if it was just the standard… finding x64 specific apps/drivers can make you feel like a Mac user.

im not confusing anyone... you cant use all 4 gigs even if you have 4 gigs installed simple as that...
