upgrade my notebook question

Now can any notebook be upgraded to a good gaming notebook? My notebook is about a year or two old, and i have played some games on ex. WoW, SW Empire at War and some others. Now my comp is not a gaming comp by any means. However I was wondering if i could upgrade it into one. Instead of ordering a brand new comp from alienware or some other company i figured it would just be cheaper to order the parts and install them myself. I was wondering however if those parts worked in only certain comps.

A lot of notebooks CAN be upgraded, but i think what you're asking is if a notebook's GPU be upgraded, which depends. Most nex gen cards don't fit.

What notebook do you have?

its an HP i purchased from best buy
AMD Turion(tm) 64 Moblie Technology ML-34
1.79 GHz, 1 GB of Ram
128 mb ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200m Series (0x5955)

Im planning on purchasing a faster processor, more ram, and a new graphics card. However, I just wanted to make sure the new parts would work before i actually bought them. Now youve said most next gen cards dont fit, does that mean the only choice most people have is too purchase a new comp?
